Default Timing chain repair gone horribly bad RESOLVED

Anyone addressed this before? I pulled the timing cover today and the upper right side mount came out in two pieces. It's been destroyed due to the lower bolt having come out and the spacer and ramp have just been flapping around.

No problem I thought, order a new spacer and replace the ramp. It's not going to be that easy though:

The lower bolt hole is welled out, you can't thread a new one in. Should I drill and tap? Or is this a lost cause?

If it means either way it could be a lost cause, I would try retapping and see what happens.

Do you know what HeliCoils are? (spelling)?
I would hope you have them in the US. Sold as a "kit" to insert a new thread of your choice.

Good Luck.

Success! I was able to use an angled drill and a 6mm bit, tapped the hole back to M8 x 1.25 and the bolt now threads. So now I just need to wait to source that spllt spacer.

Good work. Heli- coils are great when you can't just tap oversize, but what you did is much simpler.

Parts arrived last night, getting that little distance piece was a trick, seems they don't break very often. If all goes well I'll be buttoning the front cover here tonight and get back on the road.

Crap, also forgot I have to do the darn rear exhaust manifold, so maybe Saturday.

Good result! And doesn't sound like it cost a fortune. And you probably have avoided a disaster ready to happen.I like happy endings.

All done finally. Moral of this story was to buy a complete gasket set next time as I found myself on Sunday without a thermostat gasket.. So I made one.

Anyway some 20 hours later here is the cause of my oil leak, don't know what mechanic did this but he needs to surrender his tools.

Sure is quiet with all new chains and rails, short of shocked me at first.
