Traction Control Option

Traction Control Option
I have searched and searched with found no answer. I have a 1997 XJ6 with no traction control but noticed it already had two installed wire harnesses for this optionthat located in engine compartment. I pickup a traction control module from junk yard for $22.00.
I am wondering if any specific programming has to be done by Jaguar dealer or traction control is direct PNP?
Thanks

There are MANY components to the TC system.
You need new throttle cables, the actuator, the modulator assy, brake pipes?(traction control pipes have different part numbers)..............
It is NOT a dealer installed option. You order the car equipped from the factory.
It would be better to have a salvage car for all the parts required for the 'retrofit'. You could take ALL the necessary parts as you discover more needed bits.

There is a 95 X300 salvage car in KC that I can't recall if it has the option equipment .
You can call them to have them check if it has the TC actuator cylinder just Fwd of the ABS module to know
One thing I noticed on mine is the deterioration of the insulation on the 2 power wires on the bottom of the cylinder that may or may not be repairable . I have a plan om mine in removing the bottom cap and sliding on a double layer of shrink hap and tack welding the cap back on .

I got this complete unit from junk yard with throttle cable. Junk car is still there for another week., I am not sure what else to remove. What is break pipe and modulator assembly?

The cars without traction control have a single brake line to the rear brakes, and it Tee's to each rear caliper. The cars with TC have a brake line to each caliper, so you need the additional brake line and whatever fittings make it different from the single line cars.
The modulator assembly is the combined ABS/ TC control assembly. The brake lines run from the master cylinder into the modulator and then out to the wheels.
To be honest, I would avoid the TC system completely. I had a car with it, and it is very aggressive in shutting off the power. It will not allow the slightly bit of slip, so in reality on a slippery hill the car just stalls out due to the TC retarding the engine.
In the winter the first thing I always did was shut off the TC in order to get anywhere. Otherwise the slightest snow covered hill will find you stalled part way up. Turn off the TC and you can get the car going and make it to the top. I found the system completely useless.
