Default is the valet key actually different? or just a different cut?

I saw this on ebay and it just got me thinking as when i got my car it did not have its valet key,

just got me thinking other than the key being green is it any different or does it need to be cut different?
and if it needs to be cut different how would one go about getting a valet key cut when all they have is the one single key for the car?

*edit*
also what is with the head on this key? is that cut out where a transponder chip goes in?

The ONLY difference is the TIP of the key. (it is larger so it will not insert far enough into the cubby or boot lock assy.)

Here's a direct comparison of the MASTER (Black) and VALET (Green) key for the same XK8 to illustrate the difference:

The BLUE sections are identically cut. The RED sections are different.

The RED section is machined down in the MASTER which is why you can make a MASTER from a VALET but not the other way round.
