Very pleasantly surprised.
Today I decided to investigate the rumble/knock that started coming from the rear passenger side of my car. First thoughts were rear suspension, as it is common and sounded just like previous worn suspension bush sound effects on previous (non Jag) cars.
I did a visual inspection, jacked up the car, placed on stands, trolley jack under the hub, jiggle up and down etc. Checked for play in anything and everything relevant and all seemed snug, with no excessive play anywhere.
Then, quite by accident, I noticed a little "up and down" play in the bumper, right at the same rear corner. Further investigation exposed a bit of disintegration in the bumper mount itself. A thick washer inserted on the mounting bolt, just on top of the mount itself took up the slack and hey presto!! No more rumble or knocking!!
It was a short term, temporary fix, which I will tackle on a more permanent basis soon, but for now, it's sweeeeeeeeeet!
Moral of the story, check your bumper mounts! The movement was minimal, but it was enough to create sufficient drumming and knocking when driving, especially on rough surfaces!

Thanks for the tip.
My car has developed a bit of a "loose lumber" rumble noise of late. I haven't devoted a massive effort to eradicating it but initial inspection didn't reveal anything from the suspension.
Thanks to you I might be in for an easy fix :-). Fingers crossed.
Cheers
