Default Warm rear wheels

I took my x300 for its first motorway run today. Only 30 miles at 70mph. Noticed rear wheels were warmer than fronts. Is this normal? Does any of you guys need an excuse to go for a drive out and check your wheel temps before I start stripping callipers etc for no reason. Thank you in advance

tricky one. perhaps, since you are in Wales, find a good long hill and run up it then coast to a stop with minimal braking, and see what they're like.
this was how I used to check my (horrible) Austin 1100 rear brakes were not over-adjusted
the only sources of heat I can think of are brakes, in which case the rotors will be hot, or worn wheel bearings which would be noisy.
plenty of oil in the diff? - again, that'd be noisy of running dry..

How did you notice that the rear wheels were warmer than the front?
Why did you check?
Was there a noise?
Was it the wheels or the tyres, or both?
How did you check the temperatures; back of the hand or calibrated thermometer? (or old style, pee on them and check the amount of steam generated).
You say it was the first motorway run; since you bought it or has it been in a showroom all of its life.
More info! It sound interesting.

I bought her to do charity banger rally to Gibraltar this September and Have gradually been nursing back to life. Have replaced wheel bearings, stripped and cooper greased breaks, changed all oils, greased UJ’s. I fixed cruise control and repaired ABS Fault. After this I took her for first motorway run and noticed both back wheels were warmer to touch than fronts. Only warmer, back of hand warm. I could just reach calliper through gaps in wheel and that felt cold.
Front wheels where cold, are rears normally warmer than fronts.
we are going to be doing around 800 miles per day for four days in 25 - 30 degrees so don’t want anything generating more heat than necessary.

Handbrake adjustment, or handbrake dragging very slightly.

Been out for 5 mile drive, not much breaking and rear disks just about too hot to touch. I did jack car up, put in neutral and spun back wheel. You can just hear what I think are pads rubbing on disk. If I keep using will they wear down a bit and stop rubbing? I have as them all apart and copper greased everything so nothing should be stuck ?

it could be the rear hub park brake shoes, not necessarily the discs/pads, but I'm no expert..

So after 15 miles drive to work, no hard breaking, I would say driving gently, rear disks at 50 degrees fronts at 20 degrees. Is this normal?

I would not think so.

BUT

The front do get dedicated air flow, the rears no, BUT, the rears do 30% of the braking, so air flow is not critical.

I still think park brake shoes need backing off a tad.
