Washer Fluid Warning Light Help.
My XJ6 Washer Fluid Warning light comes on randomly staying on for a while then, going off. There seems to be no pattern, the washer works fine and the fluid level is not down or leaking. The reservoir sending unit is an obvious culprit but, seems expensive and not easy to get to. Before I just start replacing things was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on something else that might be causing this?
After further review and searching I believe my float must be the culprit. I have seen that you can drop the reservoir from the bottom but, can anyone tell me about replacing the sensor? Does it just unplug once the reservoir is dropped and is it held in by a rubber seal?
I recently had the same problem. I wound up removing the harness connector from the sensor and putting a jumper in. That worked fine. The sensor is a bit of a pain to get to the sensor. I had to remove the under carriage splash shield, some of the connectors on the inner fender splash shield, and had to loosen the rear end of the fresh air duct from the front bumper. The reservoir is retained by four ten mm. bolts. I didn't have to remove the reservoir, just drop it down enough to get to the wiring harnesses.
