Water pump gasket

Hi all,

I've a question I'm hoping someone can help with. I need to replace the water pump on my 3.2 X300 and was wondering if the gasket needs sealant or should it be fitted dry?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and would appreciate some advice.

It should be fitted dry.

I always use Permatex #2 on water pump gaskets.

Both sides or just one? I assume that you wouldn't expect to replace the pump more than once so both sides is fine otherwise it's a PITA when the gasket tears where you take the pump off, anyway that's been my experience.
