x300 seat will not operate
Hi, I have a 1995 Daimler. The wife hurt the car and I had to replace the drivers door. I am now unable to adjust the following:
Both seats
Drivers window
Mirrors
Is there a common fault?
Attempted:
Replaced window module - no change
Replaced BPM - no change
Checked all fuses and relays - removed, inspected and replaced.
Assessed with Diagnostic unit - unable to find BPM (and others - seat control, window control)
It seems to be a 'common' fault but I am unable to find the 'common' feature.
If you have experienced a similar problem and have some suggestions - please let me know.
I do not know where else to look.

I think I would be checking the wiring loom from the door into the car, especially the area at the door hinge. These areas often suffer damaged cables and especially if you have been tugging at the cables during a door swap.

Thank you for the response.
I wondered whether that might be the problem but, if I jump the wires in the connector, I am able to run the window up and down. Would this preclude harness breaks? Perhaps the drive wire to teh drivers window is damaged and to achieve the window action I am taking the live from a different supply? I note there are three? live supplies to the eight pin window plug. Should there be 4?
But then, why do the seats not work? The steering position drive works just fine but the seats (both) do not run.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Best, Chris

Not sure of the specifics on pins and feeds, that would need a bit of studying of wiring diagrams.
But assuming everything was working before the new door, then you should be looking for common factors. The parts common to the windows, seats and mirrors are the Driver Door Switch pack and the loom and you have already replaced the switch.
You can do an eyeball check on the cables (but cables can break internally) or check continuity across each cable. There is a multi-plug near the A post in the drivers footwell that connects the door loom to the cabin loom. Get to that and check each colour cable between the plug and the inside of the door.
If you want more detail for testing, you can find the wiring diagrams (along with lots of other documents) here

Thanks for the response. The wiring diagram seems to be for a 1996. Unfortunately mine is a 1995 VIN 738516.
The drawing run fro VIN 746613.
Do you perhaps have the drawings?.

I've put a copy of the 1995 Electrical Guide on Dropbox here

I can only leave it there for a few days so please download as soon as you can.

Duly downloaded thanks.
I am struggling with this problem and any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated.
What I have attempted:
Checked supply to the driver side window module - have battery voltage
Checked cables to window motor from module - no break, window operates.
Jumped connection to supply wire (brown purple) - no change
I can operate the three other windows from the divers module - it is only the drivers window which does not work.
Checked BPM - visual, no fault found
Changed module - no change. Module works fine in the other car - 1994 XJ40.
I have tested the loom and can find no fault - no broken wires.
It baffles me as to why the passenger windows work fine but the drivers window does not.
The window mechanism was removed for the repair but seems to work fine when given direct current.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated - I have learnt a lot about the electrical system but failed to solve the problem.
Could it be an earth or dry solder joint - if so then where do I find the earth and the fuse box. Though there is a supply to the module.

Having spent about 30 hours trying to resolve the problem, I input a search and found a reply on FIXYA from some kind soul who listed the fuses in the left rear footwell. I had looked at these numerous times but failed to see that fuse F6 (a 5 amp fuse) controls: The seat control modules, low power door switches and the mirror motors. Changed the fuse and solved the problem. Thanks to the kind soul who listed the fuses. I went back to the Drivers Manual supplied with the car and see - F6: Seat ECM, low power door switch, mirror motors. Unfortunately the Forum site refers only to F3 and F4 which are the Seat Motors. I did not see there was a control circuit for the seat motors etc
However I now need to rebuild the car and the spares car as I replaced the door loom as well. Thanks again for the help.
