Default X308 sunroof assembly in X300

hello folks,

my XJR6 sunroof rails will need to be replaced.

will the x308 sunroof rails, guides and associated hardware fit the x300?

what about the actual metal sunroof? does the x308 and x300 interchange?

thnx

Very probably it will fit fine.

My 95 X300 is built on an X308 body shell (but that's another story). The original complete X300 sunroof including the metal panel were a direct fit with no modifications at all. So it should be true the other way also.

Pretty sure it will. Search Motorcarman's posts for "sunroof" as he has posted numerous TSB's addressing sunroof issues and I seem to recall him addressing 300/308 interchangeability in there, too.

I don't know about the steel roof panel itself but ALL the other parts have the same part numbers.

Good to know, as it definitely expands the number of parts available, esp from salvage.

What would reallly be cool, in my opinion, is if there were a glass replacement for the metal panel and a corresponding interior shade option. As it is, I never use my sunroof.

I have a 308 that I'm tearing down for spares. PM me if you're in the Vancouver area, you're welcome to come look at the car.

thanks guys

I'd love to take the stuff Rob, but I am in Toronto, so it wouldn't be possible. Although depending on the shipping cost, I'd love to take the metal roof panel if it's rust free on top and bottom .. what colour is it? Is it the red one in your sig?

I checked the part # and the metal roof has the same # as well.

Now it's just a matter of swapping the stuff.

is this something I can do in an afternoon on a weekend?

once the headliner is removed, is it a pretty easy swap?

is there any adjustment necessary once the new hardware is installed? or is it a case of the whole assembly fitting in 1 way and no need for further tweaking/adjustment?

I will do a write up once I get started.

No kidding, that would a great aftermarket piece... glass panel with shade. Then I might actually use it
