Xjr 1995 won't start.
Hello everyone,
I have a jaguar xjr 4.0 6cyl supercharged from 1995, and it won't start. I was driving home after work and my belt around the water pump and the alternator was shredded to pieces. After towing it home I saw the damage it did, of course the belt was broken and as I saw the crankshaft position sensor was also taken from its life. After replacing both the car wil not start. I have been looking for bad wires just about 3 weeks now. And I am out of ideas. So if someone knows pleas help me with this because in the Netherlands it's a very expensive paperweight.
Greetings,
Bvwerk

Hello Bvwerk,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums. It's great to have you with us.
I have moved your post from the forum for the X350 to the forum for the X300, which is the general Jaguar factory project code for your 1995 XJR. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars who may be able to offer helpful information.
If the Crank Position Sensor (CKPS) was damaged by the shredding belt, it would be worth checking all of the relays mounted in the right front corner of the engine compartment. The ECM Controlled Relay and Ignition Coil Relay are among the relays mounted in that area and a problem with either one will cause a no-start condition.
The locations of the relays are shown on pdf page 26 of the 1995 XJ Electrical Guide, which you can download at the link below courtesy of our forum member Gus:

Hopefully others will have additional ideas.
In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don

Most likely the crankshaft position sensor has failed, a fairly common problem. It only takes a few minutes to change it. You may want to consider the modified mount by XJR engineer to improve performance. Link below.

Faulty new crank position sensors have been known, but before you exchange the new CKPS for another new one, double check the electrical connector on the new sensor and the connector on the harness. I once had a problem with one of the male pins in one half of the connector being pushed out of the back of the connector and failing to make a connection. Your problem could be that simple.
Cheers,
Don
