xjr6 auto gear box
Ihave just put my xjr6 on the road, intermittently the gear box fault light comes on, on the dash and sounds like the car is over reving, gear changes also seem not to happen. IfI switch her off then restart her back to normal no problems

GO HAVE CODES CHECKED, #1 FAULT FOR THIS TRANS MESSAGE IS THE TPS(THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR) ON THE THROTTLE BODY, IF IT DOES KNOW THE THROTTLE POSITION IT DOESNT KNOW WHERE OR HOW HARD TO SHIFT.

Thanks mate, I thought it might have been a major prob but from what you have said has enlightened me to think otherwise.

A common cause of this fault in the XJR6 is a worn rear tranny mount which damages the too-short wiring harness to the TCM by pulling the wires out of the pins, giving all kinds of strange operational problems. Do a pin out test of the harness to be sure, it is expensive to replace and a used one is probably not a good investment. The repair is a new harness and mount.

Ican't get the fault codes read untill next week, i have tried a snap-on ethos and autodiognos both won't read the gear box. The only codesI got were mass air flow. But todayI put her on the ramp and found the front prop shaft drive flange loose, so I
tightend it up andcar drives well, the only timeI can get the fault to occur now is if i hit a bad bump in the road. so gear box harness will be checked tomorrow. Thanks for all the help guys

All sorted. the gear box mount was destroyed wiring harness replaced also dropped the front prop shaft joint to find the gear box drive flange bolt dropped out (now thread locked in place) xjr now drives mint
