01 XJ8 ABS Module Fix
Hello All,
I am new to the forums and just got an xj8 and love it. however, I was having a couple of issues with it, and was hoping someone with experience could point me in the right direction.
When I got the car it had stated an abs failure and trac not available on the dash. I was told I need to fix the abs module. I got it off and looked at the problem joints, they seemed fine but I re-soldered them anyways. I put it back on and re-connected the battery the error was still there although when I drove it the first time it seemed as if I had abs and the brake squeal was gone. That did not last very long.
I would like to make sure I have trac and abs before the winter comes around. Also the brake squeal has developed to be really bad, and its painful to come to a stop, especially when people are around.
If anyone has any insight as to what I need todo it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
You're in the wrong forum, this is XJ8's that started in 2003; different animal.
Maybe a mod can move it to the correct forum?
or you can just post it there.
good luck

Brian,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! I have moved your post from the X350 forum to the forum for the X308, which is the Jaguar factory code for your 2001 XJ8.
Please click on the blue text to visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an introduction to give us some info about yourself and your car.
Cheers,

There are multiple possible causes for the messages. Some of them have nothing to do with ABS.
There are many threads on the subject in both the X308 and earlier XK sections.
However, as a first easy step ... how about cleaning the ABS sensors?

Before bothering to clean the sensors, have the chassis codes read, it will tell you if a sensor is not reading within spec (and which sensor that is)
Cleaning the sensors is easy, but replacing them you can easily strip the bolts via over tightening, and accessing the rear sensors requires removing the wheels
