BTW, if you think a new one will cure your leak problem, you can get a new coolant tank-to-thermostat housing hose from motorcarsltd for $26 bucks https://motorcarsltd.com/mnc4582ac.html
Let me see what's left over from that Huge check after I pay the mortgage, car insurance, utilities and a big bag of rice. Maybe some salt too. Bob's lucky grass is growing!
so far that line hasn't blown off again , not after sanding.
Good looking out on the part...
Thank you...
I don't know what else to check I'm only getting that sensor code along with the reduced performance.
from what I read the knock sensor works to help keep the engine in timing???

If I feel up to it later I may go to the big garage I'm look for my container of resistors bank 2 sensor read just over 1.6k wondering if I can trick the ecm into seeing everything is ok , normal. .?

Basically it works with the ECU by detecting shockwaves created by pre-ignition or vibration from a mis-fire etc. and warns the computer to take necessary action, retarding ignition, restricting rpms etc.
Conversely the computer keeps a constant check on the knock sensor, and if it doesn't receive the correct voltage signal it assumes a fault and issues an error code.
You Freaken Engineer! lol
Can you think of anything else I should be looking at,checking, testing? This car is not going to be worth what I'm putting into it...
Without it throwing codes I'm kinda lost on what else to check. Vacuum? Nothing is leaking it's not over heating all the plugs seem to be burning clean and even...
Got the knock sensor out.. I was afraid I was going to have to take the intake off again, I little wiggle and it came out.
Thanks HH .
That's what I been reading. I didn't realize how important that sensor is....
I'm about to order the one CK found....
Hope that's all I need for the motor. .lol. hope!
And I thought I was just going to work on brakes and wheel studs...
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad if it was warmer the garage gets chilly, and I can't run the car with the garage door closed, we'll I could but I'm not at that point Yet....
Thanks again guys...
This car is not going to be worth what I'm putting into it....
None of them are................no one could afford my car! LOL!
How did that Mastercard ad go......."New tensioners............$3,000", "New manifold heater hoses...........$1,500", "New thermostat tower..........$500", "New knock sensors.........$300", New driveline bearings............$800", New motor mounts..........$950", New ABS module...........$650", ......Pride of ownership of a classic Jaguar.....................PRICELESS!

Yes, they are not too bad to change on the NAs. I find a pair of those extraordinarily long needle nose pliers make the job easier.
......Pride of ownership of a priceless!
That looks like a pretty hefty Price to me!
those long needle nose pliers is exactly what I used to wiggle the old one out.
This was supposed to be a fun project for me and me son... cost was low, looked sharp and if we got running ok he would taken it home and wrapped around a tree too.... Happy happy... I would fine with that...
Yes still waiting for the knock sensor, looks like maybe Saturday.
But in the mean time I did as you and CK suggested and removed the exhaust system and took the transmission out. Ordered the rebuild kit from ZF and the newer/updated heavy duty A clutch drum with shaft & updated pressure regulator for the valve body.
Also got the how to rebuild transmissions for dummies book...
I hate domestication....I'm an OTR contractor and remodeling/painting the kitchen and cleaning the garage are not my ideas of fun.
I do need to rebuild my R calipers I picked up, install the newly aquired shift indicator, do the lowering springs and scrub clean the Jag carpet
....but someone has determined I need to do this kitchen and she keeps giving me the stink eye when I try to sneak out.
I think I'm a dummy that should be looking at a book.
On my home front it's more mowing, and hedge trimming, and weeding, and leaf blowing, and trash burning! This time of year is frantic for us as the cool of "winter" moves aside for the warmth of Spring and Mother Nature explodes with growth before the heat of Summer puts pay to anything that isn't watered daily.
As for the Jag, it's been sitting in the garage for a couple of weeks now, the only thing I've done is trickle charge the battery.
I had a lull in the toolkit-sales department during this corona virus period, but sold two this week, one went to Japan, the other to Kentucky, making that 41 tool kits sold so far for X308s and X300s. I have to make some more to keep my stock up when I can get some time.

Good morning guys...
FYI... I was kidding about the transmission!
I've seen online and read a few things about the ZF transmissions... Not something I really want to get into... I don't know nor have the experience to tackle something like that..
I won't do anything to this car until I know everything with the engine is working as it should....
Did get 2 days of outside weather here did some trimming but that was it...
Don't have that warm sunny weather like you guys... I'm still using the heaters in the garage to keep it at 45/50.....
HH you better listen to her and just do it
. happy wife happy life... Plus she'll be so impressed she'll find another project for you....
Looks like now the knock sensor will be here today. I'll let you know how that worked out.
You got that Right more work.. I always enjoyed how it was her idea but couldn't /wouldn't help, and it was always on my dime....lol
Damn trailer park princess she is .lol
Live and Learn. ...
Ok Knock sensor installed some improvement.
idle came down around 800 RPMs and I have a vacuum leak on one the hard lines that comes from back of the throttle body to both sides of the intake manifold Leaking at the tee...
while looks for that leak I found a small 3mm vacuum line I didn't connect and can't find where it came from on the driver's side.
Look for that other hard line now...# 9
That hose #9, while shown in the diagram going "over" it actually winds its way "under" the throttle body, before emerging between the throttle body and the back of the intake plenum and pairs off to plug into either side of the plenum.
Connects to throttle body here.............
Emerges here and pairs off to either side of the intake plenum........
Thanks CK...
I have that figured out ,the problem was where it went under the throttle body it split found that last night gooped it with some ultra black gasket maker, good up 500 degrees F. also a small vac line that i also found. Its run[ning now sounds so much better and idle is steady at 800 RPM. I still have a little funky knock sound on the passenger side which is also the side I have 2 of the old injectors.
The only warning I'm get is the boot is open I jacked the car up but I don't see the boots...
