1998 XJ8L Dash Light Issues
I recently purchased a 98 xj8 and im getting and abs light on the dash and a traction control and a stability control error on the dash display. Could one of these systems being bad cause the rest not to work??? Or could they all be bad?? Also, I am betting a battery light and its saying that my battery is not charging...I went and had it tested and the charging system is working fine....could there be something else??? Please help!!!!1

Hi Don, in a word, yes. The ASC uses the ABS to determine when a skid is likely and then applies the necessary drag on individual brakes to prevent it. Get the codes read first. That is the only way to determine which part has failed. Have you had brake work done lately. A front brake job ruined one of my ABS sensors causing the dash to light up like a Christmas tree.
