I have an 1999 xj8 vdp I just rebuilt the transmission and now my mechanic says my engine has a bad cylinder it runs really ruff and he says the timing chain upgrade had been done and the timing is perfect. I am looking around for another motor. I am told the best one to get is from a 2003 they have the fewest problems. I know my car is an older car, some things I read on line say that the 2003 motor will not work others say it will.

Has anyone had any luck with this?

2) front shock mounts: I want to try and replace the pushings my self do I really need a press to do this?

3) seat cracks: what is the most cost effective way to get the leather seat cracks repaired

 

also looking around to get a used motor for with less than 100K on it is about $1500 to $2600. anyone have any good places or ideas where I cant get an engine cheaper, I am in Houston tx.

 

Is it an AJ26 or AJ27?

 

1999 XJ8 will have the first year of the AJ27 and ALL AJ27 engines will fit (XJ8 or XK8).
