2000 xj8 crankshaft pulley removal
Hello my jag family,i am replacing my timing chain and all hardware. I've removed everything up to the crankshaft pulley ive manage to removed the pulley bolt and is stuck on the pulley. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Its a press on piece on a key, so it just doesn't pull off. You'll need a puller, probably get a loaner from Autozone or O'reilly's. But once it starts, it comes rather smoothly. You'll need to lock your crank into position and cams so as not to loose time. Do a review of 'tensioner replacement' or 'timing chain replacement'. There's a detail in here using the Site Search... JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource ...from black onyx. Or do a search on site here, there are 10's of threads on this procedure.
"move the damper and collar 1 to 2 mm forward on the crankshaft."
"Remove the tool from the damper and then pull the damper forward and off the crankshaft: if necessary, lightly strike the damper to loosen it."
