Quick question. I will be looking with the intent to buy an 03 XJR. It is advertised as having Factory Navigation. Is the Navigation computer located in the trunk next to or on top of the CD changer? I am asking because I have seen a 2001 XJR with only a CD changer in the trunk, but the audio unit still had a NAV button.

The DVD driven NAV system is in the stack-o-electronics in the boot.
It is fairly useless as the radio head unit display is used and it is LIMITED.

The DVD is out of date unless you are in an area that has not changed in 10 years (no new roads).

I have one in my 2001 XJ8 but I have never used it. I have not tried operating an X308 sedan NAV since I left the dealer years ago. I would use my wife's TOM-TOM before I struggled to enter all the info into the Jag NAV.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion. I agree that the audio head screen is too small to be of much use when compared to the technology now available. I just want to make sure that the car has everything as advertised. Thanks again.

 

Well, press the NAV button and see if it works.

 

All the audio systems in the XJR have the NAV button, but it won't work unless you have the NAV unit factory installed in the trunk.

Seller may think it has NAV because of the button, but that is not the case. As has been said, it is useless, unless you are simply interested in it as an antique cute option.
