2002 Jaguar XKR trans reset
Hi, I got this Jaguar XKR that overheated and blew a head gasket. It's a 2002 with the Mercedes 722.6 trans in it. I picked it up on the cheap and decided to swap out the bad engine with a good used one. I pulled motor and trans together to do a service on the trans. Old trans fluid wasn't dark or burnt. Previous owner said trans was fine till the head gasket blew. Serviced the trans and mated it to the new engine and install. New used engine runs great, but I have a "trans high temp" message when I try to put it in gear. Engine will not respond in Drive with this message. Trans will go into reverse but will still have the "trans high temp" message. Does anyone have any idea how I reset this "trans high temp" message? I think I read somewhere that a Jaguar shop has to do the reset, but I'm not sure. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks, Sam

I recently had the "trans high temp" message which came out when my alternator failed and the battery went quite low. After replacing the alternator and recharging the battery, the message was still there and it would not go away with battery disconnect reset or hard reset. With the battery disconnected, I unplugged the transmission control module (TCU) to check it out; couldn't see anything wrong with it and plugged it back in about 1 hour later. When I then re-connected the battery, the message was gone and everything has been fine with the transmission since then.
