Thumbs up 2002 xj8 computer problem Update

First off I would like to thank sparkenzap and homebeforedark for there input
I was having a problem resetting the onboard monitors to pass emission test
Evap system Comprehensive Component Monitor Cats.. so I went through drive cycles would not reset changed Purge valve that cleared up evap monitor after drive cycle. the other Monitors would not reset ended up doing drive cycles for another 800 miles, still would not clear so I went to jag Dealer and had them put it on there diagnostic system for the sum of $148 only to be told there was nothing wrong with the ECU they told me to keep on driving till the monitors cleared. so ended up driving total of 1124 miles. then a my mechanic told me to do another drive cycle from cold start drive at 1500 rpm's for 5 minuet's then let the car coast to a stop without using the brakes then sit at idle for 2 minuets then do the same drive cycle another 3 times lo and behold the monitors cleared. went straight to the inspection station and it passed after driving a total of 1165 miles what a pain in the ***......................

I'm surprised they didn't ask you to wet your finger and put it on your nose while looking North. But, hey, you got it worked out...that's what counts. I hope I never have to deal with that.

That sounds like a shortened version of the details in the (first several pages of the) Jaguar codes PDF for my car (see JTIS i.e. workshop manual).
