Default 2002 xj8 windshield replace

xj8 2002, 70K miles
Freeway, windshield, rock hit, bad crack.
Been investigating cost to replace windshield. Two questions 1) does windshield have the rain sensor, and 2) is it heated for defrost.
And plz, I am in Orange County, Fullerton, any recommended replace service?
many thanks - Tom Graham

If you have comprehensive coverage, call your insurance company and go where they send you. Most use Satellite, however.

I have NEVER seen a heated windscreen without a MAPLE LEAF next to the VIN plate on the driver's door.

The Rain Sensor is easy to see on the windscreen/interior mirror.

Default thanks, and

Thanks for the 3 answers thus far.
Yeah, now I know what that funny thing is on review mirror! Just move it to new windshield. As for heated, hey, I don't need that here ii beautiful sunny southern California!!

About safelite, they advertise on TV so much that I wonder if they add $100 to price to pay for it!!
And another question. please, is there a gasket that requires replacement for/with the windshield?
thanks
Tom

Call J.P's European Auto in Huntington Beach to find out who he recommends for windshield replacement 714.848.3876. J.P. is the owner.
He is the best Jag mechanic in Orange county since Britallia closed in Fullerton.
I for one would replace the windshield gasket.

I've heard safelite is pretty good. I also need to change my windshield since its badly pitted. I think I'm going to source the original one though.
You can see the seal and adhesive you need on jaguarclassic parts.

Default Windsheild replacement

My 03 xj8 has runner trim with chrome. Hard to find the seal but I found one. Now, how do we remove the chrome without messing it up? Guy at windshield replacement center says he has to cut away the seal first then cut away the rubber to get the seal out. Is this correct?

urethane is made to bond glass to a painted body. the rubber is bonded to the body in this model, which makes for a not so good seal. I removed rubber for the most part on an xj8 while glass still in place,so if you can get your fingers in there enough to pull rubber away from body so as you don't have to destroy the rubber.so its a 50/50 endevor
