Default 2003 XJ 8 Dash light issues...I can't see the gauges !

Hello,
It is dark in the car at night now. First 2 lights in the dash went off then back on etc and on then simply stayed off. Now 2 more are doing the same thing. Might the whole cluster be bad, or defective bulbs that finally failed for good? I have another cluster but I understand do to the odometer mileage differences that the computer would need to be re-programmed by the dealer. Yes or no on that? I like my illuminated cluster's look and would love to see it work yet again ! Anyway to test the cluster I should ask? Thanks for reading this.....

Pull a bulb from the spare cluster and order/find new ones.

I'm not sure if you can swap clusters without reprogramming. To be safe, I would rob bulbs from your spare cluster and replace the burned out ones. Chances are it's just the bulbs, but you can always regroup if needed. It's not hard to pull the cluster out again if you need to. That's what I would do, FWIW. Disconnect the battery before you start.
