Default 98 VDP Rear View Mirror

Looking for a rear view mirror for my 98 VDP. I am almost positive I do not have the rain sensor, all i can find are ones with the rain sensor and they are expensive, even used. Anyone know where I can find one reasonable? Accidentally bought one for 2004 and newer models.

If you turn the screw inside of the sunglasses holder 90 degrees, pull the panel down, you will see the connector is white or yellow. If it is yellow, you don't have a rain sensor, white I think you do. There is a place that rebuilds them for $100, but I lost their number sorry.

Jaguar Heaven, Stockton CA, 209-942-4524 will have it in stock. They need the color of the connector to identify.

Here in the US there were no X308 with 'rain-sensing' until MY 2000.
You should have a 6 wire yellow connector (you should have AUTO and 'twilight sentinel').

Sybesmas will rebuild yours but they don't do exchange for Jaguars (they don't have spare cores)

Thank you all for the help. Not too many to choose from on Ebay and $300 is kinda steep for me to spend on a rear view mirror. I'll keep looking. If you know anyone parting out and has one please send them my info or vice versa.

Is that through Sybesma?
Think of it this way, if you get it rebuilt, it should last for life. If you buy a second hand unit, then you could very likely end up with the same failure in a year or so's time
Their turnaround time was pretty quick too, from what I remember.

No the mirror I looked at was from Coventry West and the ones on Ebay are between 200 and 250.

I wish I just needed a rebuild. When I purchased the car the past owner said it stopped working so they threw it away and glued a cheap $5 auto zone mirror on the windshield.

I use one from a later o3 xj and changed the attachment pad on my 95. 96 went to the same pad up to 03, xk the same also. I understand you dont have the connector but for others you can swap the connectors around to what you have by unpinning the pins and swapping to your correct old one

I have a clear mirror with yellow connector that needs to be rebuilt. Auto darking fluid case cracked but all fluid leaked out so is not a lava lamp. $25 to cover shipping and my time to run to ups and its yours. I can send directly to symbesa and they can contact you for payment then at least your not paying twice for shipping. Pm me

I'm in the UK and I have my old mirror available. It will have to go to Symbesa for a refurbish, I bit the bullet and bought a new one from my independent garage. It's yours for $15 if you cover the shipping cost, which will be about £20, or $35 or so, say $50 total. Let me know, it's better it goes to someone who can use it rather than sitting in my workshop. It's the yellow connector one from a 98 Sovereign, it has the auto-headlight feature and the auto dimming (well, no auto dimming any more until a refurb).

Another option is to replace it with a Honda/Acura one. Can't remember the specifics, but if you search you'll find it.
