Just changed my second coil in the past year (1 & 3 now in "B" bank) after a night of crawling home on "Restricted Performance". My question is..are these coil failures an aberration, or should I just change out the others so I don't get stuck in the future? 1999 XJ8 with 86k.

I have never failed a coil on an X-308 with my total miles well over 400,000. but have changed tree on my F-150 in 235,000 muiles.

 

400,000 ... was that one car? Inquiring minds and all that.

what I meant to say was 400,000 of my miles on 3 x-308s!

 

Hey, Saab used to give out plaques to anyone doing 500,000km on one of their cars. Gave them out regularly too. Mine almost made it too, except that with not enough parking, I let the tow company keep it after building management wised up.
