Default 99 xjr abs fault increasing odometer reading

This is very strange. I've had a intermittent ABS warning light for a while. I suspect the module. The new issue is all brake warning lights on gearbox goes into limp my odometer reading disappears then in the space of 200 or so meters everything restores but 2 t0 5 klms has been added to my odometer....... I did a 35klm round trip and the odometer added 900 odd klms . This is a highly maintained beautiful car so lack of attention or abuse are off the table. Charging system is spot on at 14.0v battery is good. Help....pls this has me lost atm

Have you scanned for codes...very important to help pinpoint things. Also, try switching the Miles and see if it does the same.

Your odometer disappearing and piling on kilometers sounds like your instrument pack might be on its way out. We had a X308 in about 3 weeks ago and if I just turned the ignition key on without the engine running, the miles would increase about 10 miles in about 3 or 4 seconds. I have never seen that before. If you have a way to scan the IP for codes, clear and do a hard reset to see if that’ll help? 🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼 Otherwise you might want to get it to a jag specialist to see if they can do anything.

Thanks for the responses. I put my code reader on this morning. ABS trac stability and red brake warnings all stay on . Codes retrieved are P1637 can link ecm abs network malfunction P1720 vehicle speed meter circuit malfunction. I cleared them and they came straight back. Both are related to the ABS? I do know that I have a ABS module issue and have had the stab/trac light on very intermittently for a year. Can't get into the ABS module.....not communicating no matter how I try to get in. Thoughts with thanks.

I did a hard reset, everything came back to normal. no warning lights or faults. Started the car all good. The moment i touched the brake pedal all the abs faults lights returned even the traction off button light was flashing.....urrrr.

So, the odds are good your cold solder joints on your ABS module need re-soldered (old common issue). Though I have to say, this is a first on effecting the dash gauges.

Here's the procedure... JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource ...be sure to remove your pilot bit when doing this in this way. Also, I recommend using a 7/8" plug and 7/8" hole saw. After completing the soldering, take the plug and either put a layer of 30 minute clear silicone on the overlapping lip and install or put it in about half way and apply the silicone. Either should give you a proper seal for years to come.

I'd get a black plug to match, this is just an example, don't know where in OZ you'll find these. They are readily available at major hardware stores in the US. I use them for my work.
