Abs module replacement
Hello guys , I'm working on my project car it's a 98 xjr supercharged has 113k . Found out that the abs module was bad ,sent it get repaired but came back as unrepairable so my question is can I get one of the ones off eBay and plugg and play ? Or if it will need to be reprogrammed ? And if so how to do so ? The car will start and drive but will only stay in 1 gear , and shifts hard when putting it into drives and park etc... (when abs module was in ) Thanks in advance for all the help .
also wondering thoughts on how much the car is worth as it sits.

You probably could have managed the repair yourself, there's a number of threads on how to fix it. I did mine in about 2 hrs, most of it taking it out. But since that's a moot scenario, for the eBay ones, I'd only get one that was guaranteed in some form and use Paypal to recoup your monies in case. There were a couple members here who I believe made reference to excellent work from a Tennessee company, but I don't recall whom.
As for the value, that's difficult without pics and more info. Anyone else who doesn't understand Jaguar repair, would run from one only moving in 1 gear. My Indy is selling his 98 for $3500, he just picked up a beautiful 2010 beige XKR.

Hi , thanks for the reply , and as far a the rebuild I tried it my self and it worked for all of about 5 min then stopped again. And do you Know if they are all plug and play or if i would need to get it programmed to my car?
Ok thank you I read in one thread that it had to be programmed even it's the same part #
That depends on how long the unit's been out of the vehicle etc.
You will need a JLM20556 (9 valve, 6 pipe) module. The modules are fitted to 1998/1999 XJ8/R and XK8 With Traction Control.
The 9 solenoids will be black and gray in color. The later Blue solenoid modules (2000MY onward) have a different part number and probably won't work.

When you fit the part, if the INST PK display says 'WRONG PART FITTED' then you will need to have the replacement module configured to the car.
If the part has been used in a running car recently, it should work OK. If the part has been sitting on a shelf or in a 'dead' car for a long time, it may have 'forgotten' it's memory and need to be configured as a NEW PART.
I have WDS and IDS so I configure them all the time.
