Default Affordable system diagnostic scanner for XJ8?

Greetings ....can anyone suggest a good quality systems scanner for the XJ8?
I have a basic Launch unit but would like to scale up a bit.

Thanks for the reply Randy, I will check it out.
I have had an ABS 'traction control' fault come up on the car's screen and need to check the reason why.

Most common DTCs are C1145_C1155_C1095.

I bought this one a few years ago because I had to do an ABS pump bleed on my GMC pickup and then had to do the electronic barking brake release for a rear brake job on a VW. It reads the Mfr codes on my 01 XJR and does other things as well. Haven't been let down by it so far.

If you do find C1145, C1155, do NOT replace the wheel speed sensors.

First time it happened to me at the dealer I replaced the speed sensor and the car came back a few days later with SAME FAULT.

Almost ALWAYS the short 'link-harness' from body to the wheel.

Motorcarman...thanks for the advice, I will do some checking. I did replace a rear wheel sensor about 14 years ago. This problem has only surfaced after having the car sit idle for two years due to a starter motor problem which is now fixed. JJ has covered 215,000klm in my 16 year ownership. ;o)

Cars that 'sit' for an extended period can suffer 'rodent-damage' so check harnesses for 'chewing'?

Of all the things Jaguar engineers could have thought to prevent, "Rodent Damage" to the wiring
was not one of them.

Hello Motorcarman....one thing we don't suffer from here is 'rodent damage....
not with three cats in the garage ;o)=)
But yes, I will be checking over the wiring and sensors and eliminate the codes to see if they return.
Cheers. ;o)

The wheel sensors are noted for accumulating metal shavings, That accumulation
can interfere with the readings and cause an ABS light fault. It is easy to pull them
and check for this condition.

Hello Randy...yes, I'm aware of this, that's why I usually inspect them every couple of yars for accumulated crud and use spray electronic cleaner/lubricant on the connections while I'm at. So far, I have had to only replace one rear wheel sensor...we'll see how we go ;o)

Not sure what you are looking for in price range but I bought this one some years ago and has a decent range of cars if you have more than one.

Thanks for the heads up fellas...I'm looking at around the $300 mark as I only have one car worthy of such attention.

Well chaps...I have made a decision...unusual for me ;o)=)
But I have settled on this little number:

I already have a Launch CReader1V so, it's a case of the devil you know...should arrive on the 22nd and will be keen to see how it performs.
