Where can I source an all leather wheel for my XJR?
I never really liked the wood trim on the wheel nor does it really match the wood in the rest of the interior. When I go get my car next month I plan on doing some interior modifications and that is the FIRST thing I want to do.

 

What colour is your steering wheel? There are many all leather ones on eBay UK right now, including a lovely brand new old stock wheel going cheap. Prices start from around £30 for used wheels.

 

Might be a option in getting a used one and doing this . Some have the wood going half way around and some are all leather like mine . Thinking about doing this process myself later as I have priorities . I'm sure it would take me a couple of tries and the center horn / bag cover would have to be repaired / redied other then replaced .

Black is what I assumed on a XJR . The fabric or sewing shop would have the material ( if it has a good enough wear resistance and sketchiness ) and if you more accurately mark and poke the hole pattern the stitch work would look cleaner . Black on black threads may not matter but mine is tan on white and it shows imperfections . My skin is OK , it's the threads that won't clean so I may be able to just rethread it . I think it was a 2 thread per loop pattern . On car sewing without removing the wheel may not be practical in my opinion . Looks to be a padded material and not a thin material . Real leather would be authentically cool with maybe some padding behind it .

I had my steering wheel recovered in fresh black nappa leather by a professional and it was money well spent. I've got a half wood wheel, but I like that as it matches my dash well.
