Default All those be safe in North and South Carolina

Just wanting to wish all you folks in the mid Atlantic region the safest results from this oncoming hurricane Florence. Being a Florida boy, I understand hurricanes are nothing to mess with, especially in the Low Country. So be safe and get to high land or come on down to Florida where the weather is fine for once compared to y'all....

I also want to add to be sure to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly....know who's evacuated and who hasn't so you aren't checking for someone who left for higher ground and fear the worse.

New Bern NC/coastal checking in here, all's secured per usual on my properties. We go through this so often it's pretty much a nonchalant routine for me lol.

Same here in Virginia Beach. My youngest son is readying his place in Charlotte (high ground) for his in-laws from Oak Island just North of Myrtle Beach (bullseye if you believe the European model).

Toughest job is convincing my wife that we don't need to everything inside until Thursday morning (the birds and squirrels need the bird feeders!).

Good deal KC, had a bit of concern from all of the footage where it landed right on you.

Well gang it's been rough sledding here. I'm accustomed to hurricanes, flooding etc. due to my many years here in eastern NC, but Florence was cut from a different cloth. The wind was as seen before, but the rain literally came down in buckets, not drops nor sheets but buckets lol. I only suffered the loss of a privacy fence section & minor flooding in my garage. We went without power for 4 days so with my house being total electric I had to toss ample food to the meandering cats & opossums lol. I'd wager that was the first time they've had Muscovy duck breast lol. Here's a few pics from my eastern rear lawn it was sectioned off with privacy fence where I segregated dogs I once bred. My rain gauge overfilled @ 16 inches & that happened within 2 hours, I'd guesstimate I got around 28 inches in total. My city's pretty much a war zone with the national guard etc. roaming the downtown area. But the Jag's safe & sound as well as the KC NC clan !

Wow KC, did your rain gauge fill up or get submerged...holy moly.

omgimali, you've got a lot of water also amigo, your area, on top of the rain, has a serious runoff threat. Keep us posted when possible.

It was filled & @ elevation, when I say the rain was coming down in buckets it's no exaggeration lol.

KC good to see you made through with minor issues - she was a bitch of a storm for all in her path!!!

omgimali - stay safe - it won't be a quick recovery for the impacted areas for sure - keep us posted and if anything we can do from the eston area - let me know

That's a crazy amount of rain, it's astonishing to see. I've never seen rain like that and I live in the UK! I hope everyone's property is ok and no one was affected by the bad weather.

The roads are slowly being rebuilt, water has dried up but the bridge and pee dee river dam has a chance of being destroyed.

I'm with Stu 1986, yes we get a lot of rain here in the UK but nothing like that shown in KC's pictures! We don't know how lucky we are really, don't know of a storm ever hitting the UK like this, we don't get devastating earthquakes either! Hope all our friends over there are as safe as can be.

A lot of my residential subdivision's still without power, so I'm firing up 2 large grills & cooking/serving 500 chicken wings. I'm former military w/ 2 combat tours, so when I say it's akin to a war zone here, it's not a random adjective thrown about.
