Default Alternators the same for all years?

Can anyone confirm that the alternators for all years of the X308 XJR are interchangeable?

I have a 99 that is exhibiting issues with the alternator. I have an 03 parts car and I want to know if the alternators are compatible.

X308 xj8 and xjr are all same alternator actually I had 4.2 alternator as spare and my alternator was gone because I drove through water and the alternator was bad 2 days after I didn't want to buy another alternator my mechanic friend installed the 4.2 alternator but unfortunately I have battery not charging on my dash it won't go unless I install the correct alternator but since it's working fine I will keep use it

WTF? Forget how to use periods and commas? Is the new alternator (for a 4.2) working or not? Is the battery charging or not? How do you know? Learn to write.

Where are you located?

It's not my problem if you don't know how to check a car battery is charging or not . Learn about car electricity .

Hey folks,

Let's keep it respectful . . . this is about Jaguar cars, not temperaments.

Cheers,

I tend to ignore posts with 'RUN ON SENTENCES' as too hard to read and skip responses.
Punctuation is REALLY COOL but is becoming a 'lost art'.
Rant over, carry on.

We are fortunate to have a wide range of personalities and with that comes
a wide range of posting skills. It is good to adopt a resilience toward those
whose skills are not a great as we would like. We have those in the group who
will do practically anything for a few extra horsepower and those who like our
cats just the way they came from the factory and there are many who fall in
between. Yet we all seem to get along.

Well, since the topic has come up…the constant use of interrogatives? Makes reading postings very difficult? So that the reader can’t tell if a question is being asked? Or if a statement is being made? The result is that this reader? Just doesn’t read those confusing postings? Which is unfortunate? Since there is sometimes valuable information there? Proper punctuation does matter.

Rants always seem to supplant useful information. Complaining is useless.
Alternators only do one job, so if the pulleys fit and the connection works there
really should not be an issue.

All the alternators (5 or 6 of them) on my X100/X308 used parts shelf are THE SAME.
I take them to a local rebuilder lady that uses Toyota/Denso parts.
She replaces all the worn stuff for $100 flat fee for me.
Been doing this for years.
Never had an issue.
All 4.0 X100/X308 are the same.

@motorcarman, I’ve searched all over for a Denso voltage regulator with no luck. I have 2 dead oem jag X308 alternators that I’d really like to have working again. Is it possible that you can provide the business name on here (or PM) so I can get in touch with her? Please and thank you.

Same! That would be amazing. I would much rather support a good small business whenever possible, especially for something like this.

I know the rebuilder uses Toyota Denso parts for the alternators.
I haven't talked to her in a few months.

I'll check after Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Our local rebuilder pulls a rebuilt Denso off his shelf; replaces the old one: calls and tells you your car is ready. He takes about fifteen minutes to rebuild your old one, puts it up on a shelf for the next guy.

Bearings take a 'few-minutes' more to replace if they are worn.
Make sure ALL worn parts are checked/replaced.
