" If you unplug relay No.1, turn the ignition on, wait a minute or so the ecu should detect this and activate pump No.2. You should be able to drive it but the revs will be limited to 3000RPM"

Well, my one year old primary Walbro 255 ( or wiring ) is most probably dead. Both fuel pump relays and fuses are ok. The engine do not start, just gives some hopes and cranking. Everything was fine when stopped the car yesterday. I can see that the fuel pressure do not go to normal level if I remove pump 2 relay - with the relay it goes to current 50PSI fuel pressure. Since the Walbro it louder than the orginal Denso, I normally hear it when open the trunk. Now there is just silence. Since I need to move the car to a shop for pump replace and it's not near my home (45miles) I would really like to get engine starting with the trick above. I tried but no success. Has anybody get it started on X308 AJ26S ?

I pulled the relay on my primary pump when it failed and drove around on the secondary for a while until I could get around to replacing it.

Thanks Steve. That's interesting if you just jumped from pump 1 to pump 2 without any problems.

No problems other than it wouldn't rev past 3000.

Why don't you just place a 'jumper-wire' into the secondary pump relay pins 3 and 5 (30 & 87). You will get a 'check-engine' light (no relay circuit detected).

The pump will run until you pull the wire or the battery dies but you will have a fuel supply to the engine.

You can make a 'jumper' with 2 'male' 1/4" spade connectors and a short piece of wire (14 or 12 gauge??).

I keep on of these in EVERY CAR I OWN for emergency circuit activation if a relay fails to make contact. They have saved me a 'tow truck fee' a few times.

Will try the jumper on relay 2. We used such a solution a year ago to test pumps - but that time the secondary was bad and finally died during test session.

btw. I opened the relay box near ECU and wondering should the black relay really be missed?? I checked the relay diagram and it says that missed one would be for fuel injection...The another black relay is for intercooler pump.
Bob, can you confirm this? The diagram I have is for AJ27, so seems to be some differences to my AJ26.

The AJ27 has all brown relays and the AJ26 SC has the one black relay for the coolant pump (as shown).

I never believe the actual relay placement sequence (it is not always accurate).
I look at the wire colors to the relay to verify correct relay.

Update: The reason was just a BAD KEY. No problems with fuel pumps, relays or fuses. The key activated(?) immobilizer every time in one second when tried to start the engine. Finally the cylinders were so drunk that we needed to remove relays of both pumps to get all that gas burnt with several starts and after that with another key - after three attempts the engine woke up. Then 10min of idle and back to the streets. MT Drag Radials got some hard launches and I was able to smell healthy burnt rubber in the cabin
