Default Aux-In via Tape-deck ?

I found a thread in the XK section about a way to fit aux connection using the tape deck. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...e-deck-142592/

It looks like the ideal solution for me, only the tape unit circuit board is a little different from the one you can find in XKs.

Has anyone tried this method and could possibly help me figure out witch pins to use to solder on new wires ?
Or maybe someone happens to know the way the signal is transmitted to the main board and could help trace the connections ?

Why not simply use an adapter cassette?

Because they sound terrible. Hijacking the tape input is effectively a line level input, so sounds fine. My stereo had this mod done by a guy in LA. Works fine.

I've tried the adapter cassette before and the sound was rather poor so this method seems like a decent alternative.

I took a different approach with my car. I purchased an Alpine KCA-410C interface & the AI-NET cable to add an additional output thru the CD changer. This gave me the ability to install an IPOD interface. The unit is no longer made but can be found used. I simply leave the radio on CD & flip a toggle switch to go between IPOD & CD. There is no cutting involved. I also have a new interface cable which means you just need the Alpine unit & an IPOD adapter. I purchased mine thru NAVTV in Florida. It has been in the car for quite a few years with no issues. Please contact me if you have any questions.
