Default Awesome Guide to the AJ Engine and ZF 5HP24 Transmissions

Found this Jaguar written guide to the engines and transmissions in our cars while doing a search. It's the best overview I've seen yet. It's extremely informative and gives lots of pics and is well written.

It's not a full service manual but has a lot of the basics. More like an owners manual on steroids. I like it enough to print a hard copy for reference when working on the car.

http://jaguar.telko.ru/AJV8%20engine...ansmission.pdf

I've downloaded and saved it so if the link becomes a problem just pm me with your email and I'll send it to you.

If this is listed somewhere else here sorry for the duplicate. I got excited and wanted to share it right away.

Ken

Good find Ken, I try to keep an eye out for good documents and resources just like this so I can add it to the XK8/R FAQ page. I have something similar for the 6HP, but not the 5HP, until now.

Thanks!

Very nice to have, thanks. I have an '01, but many things are still the same and the diagrams are great!

*I went to that link's root site and they have a model year update doc for '99 and I think very little difference between that and my '01 (if any).

I have the 'body' version of that technical document. From the convertible pump to the side lights. I will see if it is already posted or needs to be.

Thanks for the hint. I went back and got the update for my 99 XJ8 and the Vehicle Specifications Guide.

Ken, Thanks for the PDF via PM. Very detailed, but for an AJ26. Will check the '99 update for AJ27. Thanks again

Matt,

All the referenced documents are in the XK8/R FAQ STICKY but the body document and the '99 update are links to an off-forum site. If that site disappeared they would be gone. Please consider downloading and storing on the forum server.

I have all these 1997 V8 intro and 1998 XJ intro in .pdf and printed guides (the printed guides are not for sale) from years at the dealer. I have tried to attach them as .pdf but they will not appear after upload. They are about 2MB files so they are well under the 5.25MB limit. I have the 97 V8 introduction, the 1998 XJ intro, the 1999 update, the 2000 update, 2001 update, 2003XK intro, S-Type intro (both car and powertrain) X-Type intro (both car and powertrain) 2004 X-Type training program, The XJ range 2004 introduction. etc. etc.

Most are in the 2MB to 5MB size but the S-Type 2003MY update and the XJ range 2004MY are over 10MB each. I don't mind uploading but they just don't appear after I attach them to my reply!!

Bob,

Perhaps you could email directly to Matt outside of the forum. He could then store them on the forum server.

No problem guys, I'll help host the files, if need be.

Yes, there are a size limit of 5MB per pdf file, and we can only 'attach' 4 files (IIRC) per post. But, links to off site hosting is obviously unlimited. Most are going to my personal space where I keep my photos.

Tom, thanks...I'll download those and either attach or link them like the rest of the docs.

Bob, if you ever need anything uploaded, let me know. I'll send you the link back to use wherever you like in your posts.
