You should be able to use the key to open the boot. If not open the bonnet and connect a jumper on the battery terminal on the left fender. Do not try to start the car with it but it will power up to open the boot.

I am always surprised that very few ppl. seem to know you can use a key to access the trunk .... Perhaps should make a sticky for that

Sticky away, this XJ8 is modified lol it's been shaved & de-badged back there.

Although the first time I tried, I used the "Valet Key" which did not work of course. lol


Owners manual has lots of handy stuff, including how to get the car in "neutral" with no power.

Next time in paint I am going back to the standard trunk lid. We are just going to nip this problem in the bud lol.

How about just jumping power to one of the power terminals under the hood?

Hindsight is 20/20,yesterday was just a hectic day, house full of children, potent storms & 2 cars' inoperable. Thankfully my AAA guy was competent, unlike his phone cohort.
