Battery/starter voltage question
Don B: can you tell us how you routed the cable into the trunk or otherwise wired up the solar panel? Because my car is parked outside all the time (though within reach of an outlet on my front porch), that would have been a very workable and time-saver solution for me. I'm happy with the CTEK charger I bought, but I'm always trying to learn more about other approaches.

I have used this charger mostly on my X308 because for a couple of years it had to live outside. I connect the positive clip for the solar charger to the false bulkhead connector under the hood/bonnet, taking care not to short the clip to the body. I connect the negative cable clip to a shock nut for ground. Then I open the passenger/right door and carefully feed the charger harness through the gap between the door and body above the door hinge and into the passenger compartment. I carefully close the door making sure the harness is not pinched. When the hood and passenger door are both closed, the wiring is hardly visibe. I can set the charger on the dash when I leave the car outside, or just set it in the passenger footwell while I'm driving the car. It helps to park your car so the windshield/windscreen faces the predominant direction of the sun with minimal shade or tree cover.
Cheers,
Don
