Have a new battery from Advanced Auto. Does not appear to have a vent tube hole but has a hole on the end of battery. Battery is sealed. Should I connect to this not?
Thanks

All three of the AAP batteries listed as direct fit for the Jaguar specify that they are vented. Mine had a hole at the top center of the positive end of the battery for connection of the vent tube.
The non-original battery that came with my car was not vented. When I replaced it I made sure the new one had vent holes at both ends with tubing and plug for the end not used.
Then I could not find anywhere in the floor of the trunk (boot) for the vent to go, no factory penetration whatsoever, so mine is unvented and has been for 3+ years with no apparent ill effects.

There is no way that you car came from the factory without a vented battery and a hole for the vent tube to go through.Originally Posted by Vector

The hole is toward the positive side of the battery next to the wiring harness.
Its not on the bottom of the trunk

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look and see if it is in the location you described.Originally Posted by luc

ALL X308s have the same vent tube outlet in the boot.
Someone might have 'repaired' the hole at sometime in the past.

I just bought this type of battery. The small circle on the positive terminal is a plug to cover the side of the battery that you do not connect the hose to. This battery has a vent hole on each side in the middle of the plastic cover.
The plug snaps off the cover and fits in the un-used end.
The battery was $135 so not cheap but I would not install a non-vented battery in the trunk of any car

I wasn't astute enough to realize that was a plug 'til you pointed it out, but I was smart enough to plug the unused hole by other means.
Thanks,
