Default Is it the BCM ?

Purchased 1999 XJ8 one week ago, drivers window would not go down, sun roof would close after opening, mirrors would not adjust, stearing column adjustment knobs would not work and right front turn signal didn't either, but everything else fine. Did a battery reset and window, mirrors and sunroof worked great after and still do. Seat has power to switch but still wont adjust and even worse the stearing column constantly wants to adjust by itself, even when driving and moves up and down all on its own. When the column starts an adjustment cycle all on its own a clicking sound can be heard from behind glove box, I figure at BCM. The column auto feature works every time when key is removed moving in and upmost for easy exit.

Does this sound like a bad BCM ?

Also, pressing memory buttons at drivers door have no effect on seat or mirrors but will cause stearing column to move upwards a little bit but then back down to full bottom rest position with no in or out movement. When I exit the vehicle column will adjust full up and in, but then start cycle again when I get back in and insert key.

Thanks again Bob, got seat working now and memory working for stearing column but stearing column switch and right turn signal still not, will read again.

You are making headway with another newbie and it is sincerely appreciated, but I wish you lived next door :-)
