Default FIX for Blower Control Module (BCM) Confirmed

I am starting a new thread confirming that the Airtex 4P1652 is an exact replacement for the OEM BCM for a 2008 XKR. The part can be found on Rock Auto's website for under $70. Search for part number 4P1652.

The replacement is ridiculously easy as well! There are several threads on here that document the repair. See my original thread for more details: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...08-xkr-147151/

Thanks to this awesome forum for saving me from paying the Jaguar dealer $1,700 for this easy repair!

the module is located in the passenger footwell area to the left of the blower motor itself. If you remove the cover over this area, you will see the blower motor in the center. To the left is a grey plastic part with a plug. Simply remove the two screws and unplug it and replace. There is a thread or two on here walking through the troubleshooting of the part itself.

What are your symptoms?

Here is a picture of the BCM next to the (removed) fan motor.

Here is the original BCM. Mine failed due to the TCO which is a $1.85 part at Fry's.

Interesting occurence, happen to be reviewing all of the service history of my '08 XK-R, and don't you know, the blower motor was replaced in Jan 2013 with 34.7K miles.

The BCM is the easiest and lowest cost to replace and is a good starting point. You can also remove the fan quite easily and see if it spins freely. There are three screws holding in the fan, remove those, drop the fan and spin it.

There are some other threads on here discussing how to jumper the fan to see if it works so you can determine if it's the BCM.

It's sad that dealers just want to replace all parts regardless. Of course this repair is really easy and is high profit. They need to make money but this repair and cost is bordering on absurd.

Most of the dealers would love to repair a things instead of replacing it, but the car manufacturer strogly prohibits to do so...

I agree repairing the BCM would not be wise but they do not need to tell me that three parts are bad when in fact only one is. They can get away with quoting high prices because most people don't bother to question the quotes.

Well, i was a technical trainer in JLR Russia. Belive me, it's hard to fine a good techs, who can diagnose a car properly, instead of replacing everyting in case "Let's see if it helps" But it's easy to find a sales manager, a lot of them. O tempora o mores.

Dan I just wanted to thank you for the thread on the Blower Control Module. My AC stopped working about a month ago. I read your threads and followed all of your suggestions. Today I received the new BCM from RockAuto. It took me 15 minutes to replace it. Thank you again I am back in business in my sexy ride!!!
