Body Control Module (BCM) repair update
Just got this from my shop; they've been chasing down a draw coming from the BCM that kills the battery in a couple of days. They may have found the gremlin:
"...Even after speaking with you we still were not satisifed that replacing the BCM would be the answer to the parasitic draw as the CAN system in this car is complex and other things that are not peripherals of the BCM could possibly be causing the unit to not sleep. We made up a plug so we could apply 12V power to the BCM on the bench.... 35mins later it went to sleep when not plugged into the network. After some further digging we found the draw changes when the headlight switch is in the "auto" position as compared to the "off" position, even with the vehicle and its lights are off (very unusual). The tech put the switch in the off position and the pesky draw now goes away after the waiting period. We spoke with the engineers at the software company we work with for Jaguar coding software and they did a little bit of research to see if there is a coding fix available. Apparently, when this happens its a communication problem with the BCM and Jaguar doesn't have a fix for it at this time because its not very common... After all of this, the advice was to make sure when you park the car to turn the headlight switch to the off position, or spend the money to replace the BCM... I would suggest we try the headlight switch for a few days before you pick it up and make sure it works every time and hope this will fix the problem instead of buying a very expensive BCM that may or may not fix the draw. "
A lot of places would have swapped out the BCM and been done with it. Very glad these guys took the time to truly diagnose the problem - hopefully they can save me from having to shell out $1500 for a new BCM. Fingers crossed.
Anyway, for those of you experiencing mystery draws on power when parked, maybe the above will help.

Burned out BCM
My ‘05 XKRs BCM burned out last week with no advance warning.. inside of the unit completely smoked.. ordered a replacement (same model number / part number) BCM accessories came back online but no ignition… I gather from the shop manual the instrument cluster sends a challenge to the BCM and the BCM has to respond to allow ignition to occur.. this suggests to me the BCM has to be reprogrammed so it has the same VIN as the car… can’t program it using my Autel or SDD .. jag canbus is supported after 2007. So what to do? Completely chop out the security circuit and go to the ignition relay? Or is there a way to reprogram a 2005 BCM? Thanks all :-)
