best way to clean engine
i've been maintaining the car but wanted to clean the engine and compartment. i think the best thing to do would be to do it when the engine is cold. any suggestions so i dont screw something up?
Hi Monkey,
This discussion came up a couple of weeks ago, but I'll give you the brief version of my answer:
The first and only XJ8 engine I washed lost both of the knock sensors immediately. Not water or corrosion in the connectors, not water or corrosion between the sensors and the mounting studs or bosses on the block. Two bad knock sensors.

Lol Jto.
I was the inside of the engine bay with some degreaser and pressure hose. Just dont do the engine that way.
Use a damp cloth and wipe it down. Use a spray degreaser if you need for the toughest spots.
