Talking Brake job questions. 03 XJR w/Brembo

Hi Guys and Gals,

My car is in need of new pads and rotors. I have the brembo brakes on the car. Besides the breathtaking cost of the pads and rotors, can anybody offer me any tips or tricks that will make this job go smoothly? I have done many brake jobs over the years, but haven't had the pleasure of working on fixed caliber brakes before now. Are there any special tools or talents required. I don't want to get this thing all apart and find out I need something that will take a week and a half to get from the dealer. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yep, the brakes are stunningly expensive for these.

I found some aftermarket alternatives...

http://www.europartsdirect.com/ I am not affiliated and not yet a customer. But their stuff is WAY cheaper than anywhere I've found.

its straight forward, bolts, and nuts. But on fixed caliper youll remove the clips and drive the pins out with a small punch. Push the pistons back with a screwdriver wedged in between the old pads till theyre fulled seated. And make sure to use the supplied lube to grease the slides, pins, and back of the pads
