Default cam cover vvt

Hi all

I'm hoping you can help .

I am after a small plastic disc that sits on the top of the cam cover at the radiator end over the vvt on a 4 litre xj8 x308 , my car is a 1998 (and so has the v v t solenoid on the front of the engine ) but the car had an engine replacement in 2004 ( not sure on date ) by a jag main dealer.

That meant it was supplied with cam covers that had a hole in the top of the cam cover for the later style vvt which had the solenoid on the top of the cam cover .

It looks like Jag supplied a blanking plate which was held in with
sealant , or not in my case ! causing my engine bay to look like a BP
disaster site .

I have rang a few garages but with no luck , does anyone know where I might get one of these from,or has anybody ever seen this before ?

Sounds like PCV valve. It's not a blanking cover.

Investigate more.

Thanks for the reply , but it's just a plastic disc ( I checked the other cam cover ) , plus it's on the non pressurized side i.e between the block and front cover .

How odd. I have not heard of that before- is it possible that they dropped in an AJ27 and used the cam covers that came with it? If I were you (and I am not) I would buy a couple of AJ26 cam covers- it will be better looking and won't leak.

I agree with getting a pair of AJ-26 cam covers.

1997/98 XK8 or 1998 XJ8 cam covers will work.
Any 4.0 Supercharged cam covers will also work.
