cant get into learn mode for new fob

cant get into learn mode for new fob - SOLVED
I've tried following all the instructions but can not get the car to beep. What am i doing wrong?
Drivers door open
Pull high beam lever and hold
Put key in and turn to position 1
Release high beam lever and toggle it 4-5 more times

Problem solved.......kinda. My alarm chirp horn is broken/disabled. In the dark I can see the gear select light come on. I still can't get the switchblade key fob to connect but thats another subject.
By any chance, does someone know where the alarm chirp horn is located?
