Default Carbon Fibre trim in a Jag, what would you guys think?

So, since all my major trim pieces look deteriorated with a cracked clear, I was thinking of replacing them with custom carbon fiber.

No, I'm not talking about the cheap CF vinyl wraps and stickers you see on fleebay but real CF quality pieces. What do you guys think?

Hmmmmm, I don't think it would look good. There is so much wood in these cars, and IMO, to replace all of that with carbon fiber would look like a CF overload. Although I don't like CF in the XK, they don't have the huge pieces of it on the doors like CF in a XJ would. Do you currently have a wood steering wheel and gear lever on yours?

I'm pretty biased though, for I have a VDP. CF in a VDP (different interior than the XJR) would look absolutely horrible. The large amount of wood in the XJ looks good b/c of its changing grain. CF has a consistent pattern, and large amounts of it would make the interior look dull at best and tacky at worst.

This is just my biased opinion though.

Burl walnut is the best interior trim you can ever get , carbons may look weird in VDP , Sovereigns but XJR since they already come with piano black , so carbon can be done for XJRs

In contrast to Stu's rather emphatic answer, I've kept my unique-to-the-car-woodwork stored in the attic, and bought a spare set that where painted body colour with a dry pearl (speckles in the paint).

I can return the car back to stock at any time if I get bored with it. Since yours is damaged it can be used, and a good set bought second hand.

It's your choice.

It's more Gent's lounge than stately home morning room in atmosphere.

seems like it might be out of place but I'd say go for it, if it doesn't seem like a good call you can get another wood set and probably sell the carbon fiber that you figure out to someone else and maybe even make a profit

I would love to see how proper carbon looks... as long as you have a black car

I've picked up a complete black interior to replace my tan leather, and have been thinking about getting the stitching accented in white, similar to the red in Sean B's car, and then replacing the wood with carbon

Of course, the reason I would love to see how it looks, it that the last thing I want to do is make it look tacky! this is a Jag after all. But I think carbon could work well with the black leather

@Adam...
Here's a kit. The video's a good at showing the work involved, looks easy enough, more like an arts and crafts exercise!
Carbon fibre skinning kit - cover / wrap your own parts in carbon fiber - Carbon Mods
@Grandell - how about the silver c.f. kit?

As for me... I never got around to buying a second set of wood, so never ventured down the Carbon path. TBH I still the original wood anyway, but it would have been interesting. Maybe I will one day, as these cars get older and damaged/faded wood trim becomes a bit easier to find, then use a high quality vinyl wrap

also, that Carbonmods link is outdated, but I found this site instead, and they have an interesting red accented carbon which I think could look lovely in a 100

I've just begun a side hustle making custom carbon fibre replacement parts... you send me a panel, I make a mold and send two panels back. Not operating commercially yet, but a complete range of carbon fibre interior parts for one or two models of Jag might be my first big project

Anyone in Australia want to be my guinea pig?

No, that's not my car. Hence why I said "I would love carbon fiber in 100". I found those pics on an xjr FB group. I found a local place that uses real carbon fiber overlay. But man it ain't cheap lol!
