Catalyst readiness monitor issue XJ8 X308
Jaguarians...
I have searched and read about everything I can find on this topic on this forum but my own situation seems different. In October I replaced a downstream passenger side engine bank O2 sensor so I could pass my smog test in Los Angeles. I pulled up the drive cycle information and followed it. My evap and O2 sensors reset easily in the first 500 miles but my catalyst non-continuous monitor? Available but not completed. So.
3,500 miles later...it is still not ready. Now what? Someone suggested disconnecting the negative battery cable and resting it on the positive terminal for 24 hours to completely reset the car. But I don't like the sound of that at all.
Anyone have any ideas about how I might get this monitor for the catalyst to switch to complete?

That will clear all the learned values and all the OBD monitors.
Maybe it will help - or it may not. Let us know.
Plan to use OBD to check sensors for plausible values and then carefully check fuel trims.

@Lord Donnington did you ever get your catalyst monitor to complete and pass the smog test? Any tips or follow up very welcome as having the same issue with my 2000 XJ8 in LA...
Yes. In my case two of my right bank O2 sensors had their wires crossed. They were hooked up incorrectly after I had my transmission A drum replaced. Good luck with yours.
