Default Central locking problem

Here's an interesting and inconvenient problem that I've been living with for some time.
When I stop the car and take the key out, it takes 25secs for the doors to automatically unlock. I can open the doors immediately on the handle, no problem - but I still have to hang around for the 25secs for if I lock the car before this time then all of the locks will spring open again after 25 secs from taking the key out!!!
After that time everything is normal.
Here's what I've tested:
The car locks/unlocks immediately on the fob, the key, the central locking button on the dash so it's not a sticky mechanism.
Also the auto lock/unlock works fine when I move the stick in and out of the park position (provided I haven't started the engine)
But once I drive somewhere then it's a 25sec wait when I stop.

Anyone got any ideas??
Could it be as simple as getting a garage to remove an error code?
Thanks for any input - I haven't been able to find any reference to this particular problem anywhere on the internet.
Ian

Try a hard reset...search for hard reset to find a few threads on it...start there and let us know if that solves it...

Thank you, I'll try that.
Can I screw anything up with a hard set? I only ask the question because I've just got everything working (apart from this issue)!

read the threads on the hard reset, there are a few different views on the topic...for me , i had no issues, and started getting slightly better gas mileage probably due to resetting settings in the ECU...

Default Fixed!

It was all to do with an aftermarket alarm system that I didn't know existed. See thread "Mystery ......with a bonus" for details.

Here's a direct link as searching the posted keywords didn't work.
