Hi
Look at this thread on cooling hoses (see post# 4):
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...fitting-65174/
The hose could be one of this bleed hose:
(#7 on top diagram and is #3 on bottom diagram from expansion tank to radiator (part# MNC4583CB) Retail price $22.35

Hi
You said the magic words "octopuss hose assembly"
Forum member xjrguy provided the part number and these comments:
Part# MNC6733AC Hose set, to Expansion Tank and Engine - "The one labeled "hose set" is an octopus for sure."
MNC6733AE - HEATER HOSE ASSEMBLY Fits: 1998-2003 XJ8 XJR.
Forum member SirJag provided the following jpeg and comments:
"It's the Mother of All Jag Hoses. Part #MNC6733AE ----
I wish I could find this mindless rubber octopus somewhere for less than the cost of... sigh... whatever.
I think I'll wait for this one to burst. Nothing wrong with it... I was simply changing out hoses for good measure. This one will have to wait. Other things need to get done first."

How does the quick release mechanism work on the engine outlet to hose point?
Considering the amount of labour and cost of parts I think I will try to repair this leaking connection. I looked at a new hose assy at the Jag dealer and there is an "o" ring inside this connector. I'm thinking that it needs to be replaced. The condition of the hoses is very good, nice and firm, no cracks etc..Thanks

When I replaced mine 2 years ago, I took a dremel to it just to break the connectors. I couldn't figure it out and my thought was It's toast anyway so why waste the time trying to disconnect.

Hi! I've just had another coolant leak (previous just fixed couple months ago with t-stat, pump, couple hoses including the one that goes through the middle of engine under pipes) Today found one more leak and coolant goes one drop in two seconds, so that is too fast :-(
According to attached picture (made it from right side of car):
Blue lines show the leaking hose.
The leak is on circled connection. Probably it's only the place where it drops and the leak is somewhere on the hose but could't check it as the engine was hot. The question - what is 'the name' of this hose and how to replace it? Do I need some special tools?
And would be appreciate if you'll give me step-by-step guide. The closest jag-mechanic is 150miles away and want to do it by myself.
Thank you!!!

p.s. If my picture doesn't explain exact location of hose - will try to make couple more pictures later...

I read them all and STILL do not know how to release the Quick release
I have read the entire thread about replacing the Octopus Hose assembly (Part # MNC6733AE). I purchased the correct part. Problem is I STILL AM NO CLOSER TO UNDERSTANDING how to Release the Quick Release fitting!!!
It has been two days and this thing is making me crazy. Can any body take pity on a soon to be brain dead Jaguar addict?
I have taken the Octopus hose assembly to every shop and parts house in our small town NO one has seen one like it. In one shop they looked in their specialty tool program and found a special Jaguar/ Land Rover tool (PN# 3031496) I have searched now on my computer for 7 straight hours and NOT been able to confirm this tool exists let alone how it works!!
With as many people who have mentioned this Quick Fitting problem Someone Has to have learned how to release and change it..
PLEASE HELP IF YOU Can I am going NUTZ Here!

You do not need a specialty tool to disconnect the fitting - I've done it twice with no issues, though I couldn't for the life of me explain to you how. IIRC there is a knurl on the fitting which gives you a clue about how you're supposed to handle it. There is a combination of actions - you need to release a lock and then slide or turn (both?) a body to release its grip on the metal line. Maybe something like pinch the green bits and slide the black body back or something.
When I got my replacement hose it came with an extra plastic guard on the fitting which was removed and discarded, don't let that confuse you.

Here is the PDF pages on the special Jaguar tool:
You might also try the following (provided by forum member - boomer from boston - July 30th 2011):
one might be able to take a wire coat hanger, cut a piece out, bend it into a U shape, insert that into the fitting, and pull the ends of the U apart, thus freeing the hose/tube.
Also found this photo provided by forum member pd-regan showing how to use 2 nails to remove it (his comments - just like this, with two nails):

One side is a slide/lock connector and the other you need to rotate about 90 degrees to get the plastic 'hooks' to ride up on the plastic 'ramps' to release.
The 'slide/lock' just needs to be pushed together to get the fingers to release the grip on the connector.
I have NO IDEA what side is giving the trouble but MORE INFO would be helpful.
