I have a 2001 VDP with the super charged motor. I have a generic OBDII reader that is good for most things but was thinking to use my old windows 7 laptop with some Jaguar dealer diag software and a compatible dongle if I could find one.

I'm wondering if a) is the right dongle still available and b) is the right version of software that is compatible with the older 308 cars still available? There seems to be a lot of software out there for the newer models but that won't help me with the 308 I have and might even mess up the modules in the 308 if it is not fully compatible.

I would be OK with a used dongle as well as long as I know the right model to look for. Any suggestion would be appreciated. I want to keep the car going but not do any damage!

 

It would be helpful if you simply put your Jags info in your signature, this way you wouldn't have to tell us every time.

A couple of years ago there was also a number of Ford software components and connection setup that appeared on eBay...I don't recall what it was, perhaps someone else knows it and can espouse some knowledge on it for you?

I can not recommend Foxwell nt-530 scanner to x308. It works but does not as it should. a bit later models it works very well with car auto indentification etc.

 

you need to get a vcm1 (rotunda vcm, honda teradyne gna600) and jaguar IDS software. runs on 7 or xp 32-bit

easiest least frustrating most comprehensive scan tool.
