I''Im in the market for a new TB. I have am 03 xj8, and I am trying to determine the differences between the model numbers.

I understand there was a 97-99 TB and one for 00-03, does anyone know what the different model numbers are, and whether they are compatible?

The two TB's are not interchangeable.

The early model fitted to the AJ26 engine '97-'99 has the round black vacuum acumulator mounted on the cable side of TB to operate the cruise control.

The later model fitted to the AJ27 engine 'late '99-'02 ('03 US market) dispenses with vacuum acumulator as the Cruise control went fully electronic.
There are of course electronic differences between the models.
