Default Disconnecting S/C belt for 350km drive back??

So I am going down to see my friend's Daimler Super V8 now.
He called me in panic last night after his engine started to make grinding noises.
I heard it running on a live feed, and first diagnose is it comes from the S/C center box (bearing or vanes).

If so, can I "just" take off the S/C belt, and drive the car back to her home mechanic (some 200 mls / 350km further south).
I remember reading about this before, but cant seem to find any related threads.

Thanks!!

Yes you can and i have used that and the main belt removal to verify noises as well. Will be fine driving without it.
