I found this DIY writeup with Photos on how this BMW forum member rebuilt his ZF5HP24 transmission. Shows dismantle & reassembly of the A disk and Valve body repairs that were made.

I made 2 PDF files by using the PDF995 printer driver software to capture this DIY that is on the BMW thread (Just in case sometime in the future it gets deleted on the internet):

Although this is a DIY for a BMW, a lot of the information is going to be same, while other parts will only pertain to BMW (such as certain brackets on the frame, etc).

I think it is still a good writeup, especially the photos that are in there.

This is pretty nice, but very vague. If someone had a manual to go along with this, I think things would go their way. I still need to post up the pics of how to swap the parts from the old A-drum to the new one as well as transmission re-installation pics.
